Social inequality: Racism

 Hi everyone! This is my last blog and I’m going to talk about the racism in Chile, a very hard social problem that is still present despite all the years and all the social crisis that have passed.

Racism is the discrimination by an individual or community against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group.

Specifically, in Chile, there are many people who discriminate against immigrants. for example, in places like Estación Central or Quilicura there are many foreigners from different countries like Haiti, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, etc. who are constantly discriminated by Chileans.

This should not happen because it is more than clear that all people are the same no matter where they are from. No one is allowed to look down on another or treat someone badly because of their color or language. We are all supposed to include immigrants as they are in a different country than the one they grew up in.

It is true that the majority of people of our generation and new ones are not racists. Most of us think that we are all the same, and therefore we have to educate other people who think differently on this subject. As a generation with new thoughts, we must try to raise our voice with our beliefs and reduce these social problems such as racism that unfortunately are still present in our society.

My future job

 Hi everyone! In this opportunity I’m going to talk about my future job.

The true is that since my program of study (Chemistry and pharmacy) presents a great labor field, I still don’t know in which area I will work in the future, but many of its catch my attention. Currently, the ones that I have liked the most have been the forensic area and the laboratory. This time I’m going to talk principally about the last one.

At the laboratory, I would like to investigate and make medicines. This work is indoors and it not involve travel, but I would like travel and investigate in different countries to increase my knowledge. About the salary, I think that it is pretty good, however, I haven't looked at it much. Regarding to the specializations of the career, I have not thought about it yet, but toxicology and pharmaceutical biotechnology call my attention, but as I said before, I still don't have it clear and I think that I have a lot of time to think about it.

As I said before, I also like the forensic area. I think that it is very interesting and probably in the future I will look for a lot of information about that job because it is one of the areas that most catches my attention.

Euphoria

 Hi everyone, in this time I’m going to talk about the last series that I’ve watched: euphoria.

Euphoria is about a girl of 16 years old who is addicted to drugs and is fighting to never be a drug addict again. This is the principal storyline, but there are more essential stories related to the other characters in the program.

The series has a good cast, which play their respective characters very well. In fact, Zendaya (lead actress), recently won an Emmy for her performance in the series as Rue, the main character.

Regarding to the story, I think it is good and develops quite well with some good chapters and others boring but, in my opinion, the fans of the series highly overrate this one.

Another review, is that the characters are supposed to be 16 years old, but throughout the series they are not studying or doing homework, they only do things for people over 20 years old: they use drugs, go to parties almost every day, etc. And, in the same way, the actors and actresses clearly don’t look like a person of 16 years old.

About the characters, I think that each character brings something different to the story and they develop appropriately. Some are intolerable, others likeable and the viewer empathize with some of them.

Finally, I recommend you to watch this series, it is not an excellent series or anything similar, but, in my opinion, it fulfills its function of entertaining and being interesting.

My future profession

Hi everyone, in this opportunity I’m going to talk about some aspects of my career: Chemistry and pharmacy.

In my opinion, this career has many positive aspects:

It has a very great field of work, some of those ones are: laboratory, industry, cosmetic, pharmacy, at an hospital, etc. Therefore, it can be said that it is a very versatile career. Also, this career has a very good employability and remuneration. Another thing is that this career has some very interesting specializations areas, like toxicology, botany, organic and analytic chemistry, pharmacology, etc. And finally, this is a career that contributes many positive things to the society and helps a lot of people.

I chose this career because I love the chemistry, and seems to me an interesting and entertaining subject (I used to watch some series about this) and it was my best subject at the school. Also, I like so much the health area. So, I decided to study this career because it was the perfect one for me.

Finally, about difficulty of this career, I can say that this one is very difficult because each subject has many information and by each semester this is getting harder.

Best vacation!

 Hi everyone! In this opportunity I will talk about my best vacation.

My best vacation has been In Chiloe. My family and I travelled to there in February of this year. We vacationed for 2 weeks and we fall in love completely with this place. We go down many places of this beautiful province like Dalcahue, Castro, Ancud and Chonchi. My family and I love nature so we visit almost all the beaches, waterfalls and natural parks. Also, we tried to see and photograph the largest amount of flora and fauna in the area. In Puñihuil, Ancud, we could see two different species of penguin, the Humboldt and the Magellanic penguins, which were small and very beautiful, and we love them.

This vacation has been the best because we could make many activities related to nature, we really enjoy everything of this journey, we could taste the gastronomy of the zone, we participate in many typical parties of the place like ‘’The minga’’, and the best of all, I can spend a lot of time with my family.

Blog 1: Italia

Hi everyone! This is my first blog in semester and in this opportunity, I'll talk about a country that I would like to visit: Italy.

Since I was little, European countries have caught my attention, and my favorite country in Europe is Italy.

As we know Italy is in Europe and its capital is Rome. Its has population of 60 million people and it is a great tourist site, as it has nature reserves and historical monuments, such as the Roman Coliseum and the Pizza Tower.

Personally, I would like visit this country because there is a great variety of things that could be done there, including visiting the many tourist sites, also enjoy gastronomy and millenary culture that can be sight in famous museums like Poldi Pezzoli museum and of course the Vatican that contains Sistine Chapel.

In the future I would like to live there, and obviously work there, because I believe that It is a place where I could develop in different ways, such as socially and professionally. Italy is a country that offers many opportunities but the but the only things that could be troublesome is language and the fact that I’ll be alone.
